Fritz Segall was born on August 27, 1901. He was a journalist and member of the Socialist Party of Germany. In 1935 he became head of the Jüdische Künstlerhilfe (Jewish Artists' Aid) of Berlin, also frequently known as the Künstlerhilfe der jüdischen Gemeinde (Artists' Aid of the Jewish Community) of Berlin.
